SICK sensors with v-optics use an inclined, v-shaped light beam to direct more reflected light into the receiver. This means more energy is received when the detection substrate is in close proximity to the sensor. Especially where shiny or deep-black objects are involved, a sensor with v-optics receives a significantly greater amount of the reflected light.
