Blanking

Blanking is an optional function of a safety light curtain. The detection capability and/or protective field can be configured in such a way that an object within a defined section of a protective field is ignored and the safety function is not triggered. In the remaining protective field of the ESPE, the resolution remains unchanged.

Blanking can be used to allow specific objects through the protective field (e.g., a carrier for a workpiece, a hose, or a slide).

Difference between fixed blanking and floating blanking: For fixed blanking, the blanked area is precisely defined in terms of its size and position. For floating blanking, only the size of the blanked area is defined, not its position in the protective field.

In contrast to reduced resolution, this blanking monitors whether the object is present. The safety light curtain triggers the safety function if the object is not present.
