Triangulation refers to a measurement technique used by displacement measurement sensors from SICK. A light spot is projected onto a measuring object using a laser diode, for example. A receiving lens then reproduces the reflection on a photosensitive element. The distance to the object can then be determined based on the position of the reproduced light spot and the known geometry.
