Protection class

Electrical equipment is classified in relation to existing safety measures for the prevention of electric shocks. Protection classes are defined in DIN EN 61140. There are four protection classes ranging from “Basic insulation” (Class 0) to “Safety extra-low voltage, double insulation, safety transformer” (Class III).
